This course discusses the optimization of automotive and stationary lithium-ion batteries.
Credit: 2 PDH
Instructor: Juan C. Borrero, P.E.
In this two hour course, the engineer will learn about the optimization of automotive and stationary lithium-ion batteries and the different tools that can be used to analyze battery lifetime. Battery lifetime analysis is important to various applications including electric vehicles and green energy storage. This report walks engineers through the analysis of battery lifespans for various applications. Engineers taking this course discover new and familiar models and algorithms, including electrical and thermal modeling.
Engineers taking this course learn the various features of the BLAST simulation suite including its potential for stationary, vehicular, and metered applications. This course also educates engineers on the various models and procedures used to analyze a battery’s lifespan. The models and procedures discovered can be applied to testing the lifetime of other batteries or battery powered technologies. This course also engages engineers in real-world applications of core electrical engineering concepts including DC and AC power and the current-voltage-resistance relationship.
